I encourage everyone to try this as it's a blast. Think of it as telephone and pictionary's lovechild. You start out with a sentence, then someone draws a picture of that sentence, then someone writes a sentence about that picture, and so on, and so on. It's all web based here, but you can play it at home too! Here's two pictures that I drew for this game. The captions are the sentences that I got to
Attack of the Refrigerator Elephants!!!

Will I get fat if I eat 100 chicken McNuggets?

Freshmen we were

"Playing with Pink Noise" - Kaki King

I miss being a freshman. Not really the fact of being a freshman,
but just the unique experiences I had. College life was so new and
exciting. I met more new friends then I had ever met all my life, I
wasn't too extremely stressed, and I even had time to update my blog
regularly. Now, life is different. I haven't made any remarkable
friendships, my life is full of stress, and I barely have time to read
other people's blog updates, let alone update my own. I have more good
friends now than I've ever had, but I feel disconnected with the rest
of campus for some reason. It's a little depressing, but in a way good
too. I suppose I'm just growing up or something lame like that. I mean
seriously, who wants to grow up?

That's another thing, why does school have to be so stressful?
Shouldn't learning new things be exciting? Shouldn't we want to learn
so much that we would just end the semesters knowing everything we need
to without even having to be tested? And I'm not even being stupid, why
isn't learning fun? Learning hasn't been fun since 2nd grade. I have
fun learning things on the internet, I have fun learning things on my
guitar, I have fun learning things about people I know, but I've almost
never had fun learning things at school. It just doesn't make sense.
And everyone blames it on us as students not wanting to learn. I WANT
TO LEARN! What teachers don't realize is that because of the way our
world is changing, the way we learn things is also changing. Lectures
don't work, worksheets don't work, just because you have a powerpoint
doesn't mean we're going to enjoy learning whatever's on it. Wake up
teachers! We're different! You'd better figure us out, or our worlds
going to be a very sucky place in the near future.

I could go on and on about that, but I won't. So that's all I'm going to say for now.
dur

So here's another great song for everyone to listen to while they're
reading my post. It's "I 76" by G. Love & Special Sauce.
I had something really thought provoking to say (He's totally lying), but instead I'm going to post this video.

I rembered what I was going to write! Ok, it may not be thought provoking, but it's still interesting. I found this really neat website called indexed. Basically, some guy makes graphs and charts on notebook paper. Some are thought provoking, and some are humorous. Here's a good example.

Rip Out Your Eyes

The title is the name of the song that came on as I began writing this entry. It's by Ill Niño. It's good.

Hmm...It looks like we can upload audio now. I'll try to upload that song.

Interesting...
So I have a hurricane now. That's right, Hurricane Isaac is headed towards Canada, which is perfect because Canada is the only country I've ever been to that I didn't like...And the only other country I've been to is America...
I had my usual "mid-semester crisis" yesterday. Y'know, that one when you ask your self, "What the poop am I doing with my life? Do I really want to be here? What's the point?" I asked my advisor about transferring colleges. I told her my main reasoning was that I hate generals, and I feel that they're pointless. Then she looked at my transcript, and it said I don't even have to take any more generals because I had already taken them all. So...yeah...I felt stupid. But now I know that I'm fine where I am, and I look forward to all of my business classes!
I'm going to order one of these tomorrow:

More than likely I'll have a heart attack once it shows up. So if I'm hospitalized sometime soon, please bring me my MacBook to keep me company.

A couple things...

Yeah, I'm leaving for Minneapolis now, so I just thought I'd post some random stuff I've been thinking about.

I bought Ima Robot's new CD "Monument to the Masses". Good stuff.

I bought a raraties album by Static-X. It's called "Beneath... Between... Beyond..." I haven't listened to all of it yet, but it seems pretty good so far.

I went mudding with DeVelle yesterday. Or rather, we attempted to go mudding yesterday, but instead ended up getting a grand total of 3 pickups stuck on the same road within 50 yards of each other. Ask me to tell you the story, it's a good one.

I got the coolest backpack ever yesterday. It was expensive, but definitely worth the money.

I'm going to order my new computer in a week or so. I'm getting a black MacBook. I'm pretty pumped. You don't even know.

1 Gateway + 2 Compaq's + 2 old Macs = 5 old computers I recieved for free this week. I'm going to hopefully convert the old G3 Mac into a media center PC. If it's possible that is. I found a 120 gb hard drive in the Gateway too. So basically I got a free external hard drive. Now I can spend a little extra money on the enclosure.

I've recently been interested in computer history. I know that sounds incredibly nerdy, but some of the stuff is really cool. I'm reading a book about the Commodore 64 my friend borrowed me. Lots interesting facts in there. Did you know that the Commodore 64 was such a sweet computer, it was sold, unchanged, for 13 years? That's unheard of in our day and age.

I saw "Little Miss Sunshine" last night. Let's just say I loved it. Loved would be an understatement.

Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I'll see you all soon. Here's a quick vid for your viewing enjoyment. The new tickle me elmo. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Two great things...

Here are two great things:

Facebookers, click here.

And secondly, they finally announced Guitar Hero II for Xbox 360. I seriously squealed with joy when I heard that. Like seriously I did. I'm not even joking. You don't even know.

gaim hellp lurn

Game Theory
Richard Van Eck, associate professor of instructional design and technology in the UND College of Education and Human Development's Department of Teaching and Learning, is a nationally recognized expert in the use of computer-based games in the classroom. Van Eck has developed a wide array of strategies for the testing, use, and evaluation of these games in secondary and postsecondary education, as well as in the workplace. "Critics say the kids, today's 'digital natives' don't have attention spans, and that games are a waste of time," Van Eck notes. "Kids have phenomenal attention spans, just not for the same kinds of things that we do. It turns out that those hours spent playing video games result in significant improvements in cognition because games employ some of the most effective learning strategies known to education."

This guy know's what he's talking about.
